But now it’s you who has to stand out and prove your capabilities inside that closed chamber.

Before we proceed, here are 3 Interview Tips for you:
1. Be Confident: The Interview Panel-Members of Interview Board will be carefully observing who you are starting from how you enter the room, how you answer the asked questions, how confident you are in what you say, what you ask them in return-if any and how you leave the room. So whole attention will be on one person i.e. YOU.  Just relax and act like the normal you, don’t stress yourself.
2.  Maintain Eye Contact: Face the Interview Panel and maintain a constant eye contact with whole panel. If Person A has asked you a question, you can rotate your eyes across all the Interview Panel Members and keep them engaged by regular eye contact. This will make you feel confident too!
3. Do Preparation: Practice at home will make you feel comfortable. Do some mock preparation at home with friends, parents or siblings. This will give you confidence to face it on the KVPY Interview Day.
Do’s for KVPY  Interview:
(1) Be Confident:
This is first and primary requirement to clear KVPY Interview or any other interview. If you don’t have confidence it reflects your lack of will and capability. How educated and smart you are but if you can’t present it to people it will be under shadowed by this weakness. Confidence does not mean speaking well and fluently, it means how you holistically present yourself as an individual.
(2)Respect the Panel:
The Interview Panel of KVPY 2013 will be very senior faculties/researchers with great experience. They are sitting because they have earned it and it’s your turn now to prove your worth. They are acquainted with the qualities and characteristics a good KVPY fellow should have, so give utmost respect to the board.
(3) Don’t believe rumors:
You will hear a lot of different stories about KVPY Interviews or any other interviews. Often it is seen that some students are asked majority of questions related to subject and some are asked extra academic questions. Avoid these unnecessary details and don’t create an image in your mind based on it. Every person is different and so will be the interview. Stick to one thing that you have to prepare yourself in the best possible way.
(4) Be an active Listener:
Not many have this ability. But if you develop this habit you are recognized easily. Active listener means you pay attention to the speaker when they are telling you something and don’t interrupt in between. Such interruptions are often counted as negative. Listen carefully to what they are asking and put your answer in context to the question only.
(5) Gather adequate knowledge before interview:
Ensure that you have gathered required information before you appear in the Interview for KVPY 2013. The information means important questions and previously asked questions, basic interview techniques and tips and how to present yourself at the interview. This will not only make you feel confident in the interview room but will also help you in answering the questions of Interview Panel.
(6) Accept it if you don’t know:
It’s better to accept that you don’t know the answer rather than building virtual walls around the question. Remember, the interviewer is educated enough to realize you don’t know the answer and trying to make it up. If someone from the Interview Panel tells or explains you the answer, thank them for the same.
(7) Give the best of you:
In the interview your target should be to show the best side of you and cover up the negative in you. Covering up does not mean you need to be fake but it means try presenting your good side (Good academics, extra-curricular achievements or any other) so that you will be asked questions around it.
Don’ts for
KVPY  Interview:
(1) Don’t break the Interview Room Etiquettes:
This part comprises of a lot of things. Once you are in the KVPY Interview Room, every bit of you will be noticed. With etiquettes we mean the normal things you should ignore, like eating chewing gum in the interview, sitting in lousy posture, not being attentive and giving random answers and explanations etc. These are very basics and you can easily ensure you don’t mess up things because of them.
(2) Do not interrupt the interviewer:
In Do’s we discussed that one should try to be an active learner. Now interrupting the interviewer would never be a positive aspect. You should always let the interviewer complete his/her question and then give your answer. Hurrying in answering and interrupting the interviewer will give a wrong impression about you and will give you negative ratings.
(3) Don’t be Nervous and Tensed:
Being nervous and tensed on the KVPY Interview Day will not be doing any good. Keep yourself calm and composed. Try doing something that relaxes you the night before like take a walk, watch a comic show, read a motivating story or something else that makes you feel comfortable.
(4) Do not hesitate:
This is one very crucial thing that every student should always keep in mind-Until and unless you won’t speak, they won’t hear or know if you know the answer or not. You need to be confident and answer the questions.
(5) Do not try to confuse/bluff/dodge the interviewer:
Ensure you don’t try to confuse the interviewer by giving random explanations and answers of the asked questions. They are smart people sitting there and won’t take time to gauge that you are trying to bluff the answer which will lead a negative impression of yours. Rather, try being honest and accept if you don’t know something.
(6) Don’t be aggressive/argue:
You should avoid getting into arguments with any of the interviewer. There is a big difference between healthy discussion and argument but a very thin line which might get crossed if you get aggressive answering them and gets into an argument. Try being straight to the point and prefer avoiding any form of argument.
(7) Do not flatter:
Why you should avoid this is because flattering won’t work. Keep this thing out of your mind that the interviews are biased and selections are not done based on knowledge and skill-set. Show the real you and don’t blandish the interviewers.
We hope you take the best habits with you and leave the ones that are not so good and will constantly keep on pushing yourselves to be better, everyday.
