Important Dates related to GATE 2014

GATE 2014 Notification

Dates Of Examination GATE 2014 examinations will be held during forenoon and afternoon on alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) between 1st February 2014 and 2nd March 2014. Examinations for some of the papers in GATE 2014 will be held in multiple sessions. Exact details regarding complete examination schedule will be notified at a later date. Examinations for all the 21 papers will be conducted by an ONLINE MODE only Computer Based Test (CBT).

Application fee (Candidates have to apply only ONLINE) Rs 1500 for General/OBC male candidates Rs 750 for women candidates Rs 1500 for General/OBC other candidates Rs 750 for the SC/ST/PD category candidates The Application fee can be paid either online or through a bank challan via SBI or Syndicate Bank. The application fee is non – refundable.

Duration and Examination TypeThe GATE examination consists of a single paper of 3-hour duration that contains 65 questions carrying a maximum of 100 marks. The question paper will consist of both multiple choice questions (MCQ) and numerical answer type questions. Click here for the pattern of question papers. The examination for all the papers will be carried out in an ONLINE Computer Based Test (CBT) mode where the candidates will be shown the questions in a random sequence on a computer screen. The candidates are required to either select the answer (for MCQ type) or enter the answer for numerical answer type question using a mouse on a virtual keyboard (keyboard of the computer will be disabled). Candidates will be provided with blank paper sheets for rough work and these have to be returned back after the examination. At the end of the 3-hour window, the computer will automatically close the screen from further actions.

List of top Public sector Units like ONGC, NTPC, ISRO, BHEL, BARC, DRDO, DVC, Power-grid, IOCL and many more Organization are going to recruit engineers only through Valid GATE score. GATE Score card is mandatory for Lecturer/ Asst. Lecturer in any engineering colleges. GATE Score is mandatory for teaching professional in Engineering Colleges / Institutes. Validity of GATE Score card: It vary every from 1 to 2 year.
